IUPUI overcame early shooting woes to take a 35-33 lead into the half.

The Jags were down by as many as eight points in the opening period, due to the hot shooting of Oakland, who were led by Anne Hafeli’s nine first-half points. Nicole Piggott added eight points. A balanced Jaguar attack, with seven players scoring, got them ahead by as many as five.

Kia Hayes shook off a rough start to score nine first-half points. Tanika Mays scored eight and had three assists. Jernisha Cann came off the bench to score four points and pulled down six boards.

It's early, but I was impressed to see the Jags fight back from the deficit. They were down 19-27 with 7:50 remaining in the half. That's a 16-6 run.

The band is having fun at my expense tonight, those chuckleheads. I hope we do this all over again tomorrow night.
